Description
Three days before Christmas, I moved into a condo left to me by my aunt. I had to evict the tenants who were squatting, and they left in the middle of the night taking EVERYTHING, including all my aunts personal effects. They even took the stove and fridge, washer and dryer, shower heads, and thermostat. I have not worked for a year and a half (lost house, job, vehicle, and most importantly my dignity) and just ran out of unemployment two weeks ago. So to sum it up, I am in rough financial shape. I can't even afford to register or insure my vehicle. The same day I moved in the condo I visited Craigslist and found a free sofa and figured at least it was something to sit and sleep on. The gentleman giving it away offered to bring it to me and I accepted. Moments later, he arrived with his dad and they unloaded the sofa. They were asking about my situation (they saw my daughter...who just delivered a baby days before... and granddaughter were living here with me) and I explained fully. The next morning, I got a call from the same folks that brought the sofa only to find they also bought me a new stove!!!! At the very time the stove was delivered, another delivery truck pulled up with a "gift" of a fridge from my sister. The people with the sofa also brought us food, a tv, a bassinet (the baby was 7 days old), a $50 Walmart gift card, and Christmas gifts for my granddaughter. The woman in the condo across from me, even brought over a small Christmas tree. How does one express thankfulness and gratefulness for such gifts as these? I cried and thanked everyone and sent out thank you notes, but it doesn't seem to be enough. I feel like the poor boy in The Little Drummer Boy song. I'm grateful beyond words and glad to see that there are still some caring people in the world. Now if I can only get a job.......
