"I would like to thank the library staff for making it possible for us to open at 1pm today. In preparation for Sandy's visit, We had taken all the books from the lower shelves and placed on table and shelf tops. We disassembled our network and moved servers and computers to the tops of high shelves in the library. Although other structures in town were flooded, the bullet missed us. Thanks to Shannon, we got the network up and running in record time, and the staff performed a Herculean task of putting the rest of the library back together. During the storm, the library set up a mini-library at Avalon's evacuation site in Bridgeton. I am very proud of the library staff!
